Niraj J. Parekh represents clients in a broad range of complex commercial disputes including securities litigation, structured finance transaction disputes, antitrust litigation, business disputes, insurance litigation, and pharmaceutical and medical device litigation. Niraj has experience representing clients in breach of contract cases, mortgage-backed securities cases, and fraud litigation, including at trial and on related appellate matters.

Niraj is currently representing a number of financial services firms and their affiliates asserting federal and state law claims in active litigations to recover losses on investments relating to residential mortgage-backed securities. Niraj is also co-counsel representing a hedge fund group and monoline insurer objecting to the proposed $4.5 billion settlement between JPMorgan and several RMBS trustees for 330 securitization trusts.


Mr. Parekh received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, cum laude, in 2004. He received his B.A. in Economics from Tufts University in 2000.

Mr. Parekh’s experience prior to joining WMD in February 2015 includes:

  • Represented financial guarantors and institutional investors in litigations before federal and state courts asserting multi-million claims relating to mortgage-backed securities.

  • Represented Fortune 50 pharmaceutical company at trial and on appeal in multi-district class action asserting fraud and price manipulation in connection with drug pricing and reimbursement levels.

  • Second chair as trial counsel for real estate developers in multi-million dispute involving historic reconstruction project in downtown Manhattan.

  • Defended financial services firm in putative class action alleging securities fraud in connection with collateral debt obligations.

  • Defended global telecommunications provider in class action of industry-wide antitrust violations.

  • Represented hedge funds in litigation involving fiduciary duty and ERISA claims.

  • Represented hedge fund in litigation of purchase and sale agreement of multi-million dollar senior care facilities.

  • Represented financial services in litigation relating to alleged LIBOR manipulation and interest rate transactions.

  • Defended insurance brokers in government investigations and civil litigation alleging antitrust violations and unfair competition claims.
